The end?

Hey guys. If anyone has been coming by lately, you might have noticed that this blog is rarely being updated. Very much so my fault as I’ve been very tardy and just have not had the inspiration to write much. Therefore, I’m calling an end to The Random Muses and moving on towards a new project.

This project will hopefully allow me to reach my aspirations in Journalism and also assist me to grow by leaps and bounds and perhaps find potential employers in the future. My new blog is located at:

You are welcome to join me and very welcome to follow me along. My new blog will be a bit more professional aimed at writing original and more newsy pieces. I may or may not be updating this blog from time to time, but it all depends on how it goes.

It has been two years of blogging (perhaps even a year or a year and a half with the slow updating, haha), but I think it is time for an end. It has been an amazing experience, a great lesson in writing, and definitely something I won’t forget. Thanks for coming to my blog, thank you for keeping up with the blog, thank you for reading, and thanks for all your support.

From the whole TRM team; Askar, Daniel, and Adrian, good-bye!

For The Sake Of Deprivation

October 19, 2009 Leave a comment

I have realized since the beginning of summer that it is hard to live a life of insane amounts of, well no sleep. You could say it was as an idiot mistake to make to assume that 30 minutes to an hour of sleep to last me 40 hours would be a bad idea. But I still went through with it, because the facts are I just didn’t sleep and half the time I couldn’t. It all started in September when my bed broke, I was sleeping on the couch and eventually just took my mattress and stuck it straight on the floor of my basement bedroom. Note to self, it was even colder only a 50cm difference between the bed and the floor it was terrible I found myself wrapped in blankets and sheets even though it was warm throughout the house. It didn’t take long before not sleeping effected the way I acted in school a lot of people assumed I was dead half the time.

It didn’t take long before I fell asleep in class, the feeling of waking up at the end of class not knowing what the homework had been and having people saying that only a couple of people noticed I had fallen asleep. Listening to music from the likes of Lou Reed to Breaking Benjamin to Mos Def I just had a hard time running my everyday life, I’d doze off out of nowhere. Felt like I woke up in a different place but in fact I was the same place I was when I fall asleep it was like the protagonist in Fight Club. I could say it a million times that I wasn’t tired but my body was simply shutting down half the time and I would try ignore the feeling that seemed to always kick in. At almost exactly eleven a.m. I would feel a feeling of tiredness to move my legs to move anything and even on school days this was very annoying.

Then it happened a moment of realization, last week on Thursday when my school had an early release day (meaning we get out 4 hours earlier) I had totally blanked out after having a shower, I woke up like five o’clock in the afternoon my eyes heavier then how my legs had felt. I looked at the clock and literally yelled the word “Fuck” Three times, I had missed not one but two tests and it was a moment that the insomnia had gotten me, it had made me stay up and it had made me fall asleep in the morning. My dad had thought I was dead nearly, alarm ringing all day my phone going off as well with about 20ish text messages missed. It was terrible and that was the day I decided I should change for the better of things, to put an end to the insomnia once and for all.

But the other fucked up thing was when I tried to go to sleep, by reading countless articles on WikiHow almost like self help articles I had conquered it averaging about 8 hours of sleep on the weekdays and 12 on the weekends (which is way too much) But I’m glad that I can finally carry out a conversation without nodding off, I still look dead in the morning. But Im secretly a zombie, so it’s all good.

YouTube battling ‘Porn Day’ campaign

I took the title of this post and the article straight out of CNET. The link is provided here:

Other articles for my collection, can be found at the end of this post. Due to rules 1 & 2, I cannot  disclose a lot of information, so the article shall help me explain it. As for the article, here it is. In my opinion, epic success; and the lulz has succeeded.

YouTube was busy deleting porn videos on Wednesday after users of forums at a rival site and an imageboard site declared a “Porn Day” campaign against the popular video service.

The forums at video site eBaum’s World and 4chan organized the mass porn “carpet bombing” on YouTube, according to Ars Technica.

YouTube has been removing the videos as fast as it can, but even videos that are removed are still showing up in search results with explicit images in the thumbnails, the report said.

It could take a couple of days for all the explicit results to be removed from the search results, Google spokesman Scott Rubin told Ars Technica.

In a phone interview with CNET News late on Wednesday, Rubin said that in addition to the porn videos were removed as soon as community members alert YouTube to them, certain channels where the posters were bragging about the campaign and listing the videos were being disabled.

“This group of pranksters thought it would be funny to load a bunch of porn to YouTube,” he said. “This is an unfortunate, and I think poorly directed, prank. I think our systems are doing really well at removing content that violates the guidelines.”

And this is my favourite article so far:

But there’s more, BBC never fails to make me laugh. The video in the article and what the reporter is saying is excellent. She and other news outlets easily believe the people they are talking to. The reporter speaks about “Flonty” and believes, so well, that he really is indeed 21 and from Germany. The Internet Is Serious Business.

“I am 12, and what is this?”

What is music?

We hear music everywhere we go and yet we call almost every sound the sound of music. But what really is “music”? How can we define it?

I believe music is that which causes emotion.

If music causes one to feel anger, hate, jealousy, that is music.

If music causes sadness, feeling, and fear, that is music.

If music causes happiness, goodwill, and well-being, that is music.

As long as music causes a change in mood, a change in emotion, then that is what I define as “music”.

You may see it differently, so I would like to know what your definition of music is!

A Fallen Angel

I am going to establish one fact right now:

I love the Guitar!

I mean i am absolutely stalker-ish, hide-behind-the-tree type in love with it. But to my ears, it’s not limited to only one type of genre. I follow lots of them, and by lots, i mean tons. And I can tell you i have heard that instrument being played by many indivisuals over a long, and versatile period. But I only am an avid fan of those ‘guitarist’ who played their worth over a long time with consistency.

So imagine my surprise when I was going through my friend’s album collection and i ran across a cd called Perpetual Burn. I liked the cover so I borrowed it from my friend and later that night, I plugged it into my drive and turned up my speakers. The sound that came from them, was not of a guitar, but of life. The life that i finally understand!

The genius behind this cd was a boy named Jason Becker, who at the time was only 17 when he recorded this instrumental album. Just the opener got me obsessed. I followed this guy’s life and I came to a conclusion: Jason Becker may not be THE best guitarist in the world, but he is the MOST inspirational!

Why you ask? Well his story goes back to when he turned 20 and he got the part of lead guitarist in David Lee Roth’s band (He is the famous singer for Van Halen) and then one week later he went to a doctor for a check-up and the doctor, after much extensive tests came to the result: Jason Becker was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This meant that he would eventually lose control over his bodily functions and die within 5 years. But that man defied the odds. Almost 2 decades  later, he is still alive, breathing, kicking and continuously making music, despite the loss of his ability to move any part of body, besides his neck, eyes and jaw. He composes it through his own self-created sign language.

If that alone does not make you respect the man, you should see this video of the legend in order to understand, just what kind of ability he lost and how much of an optimistc person he is that he still contunes to thrive on happiness.

So therefore Jason Becker……………YOU DEFINE THE DEFINITION OF HOPE !!!

And for you to get hooked onto this legend:

2. Perpetual Burn
3. Mables Fatal Fable
4. Air
5. Temple Of The Absurd
6. Eleven Blue Egyptians
7. Dweller In The Cellar

Free Bird

September 7, 2008 Leave a comment

There was a bird who had flown,
Through the trees, sky and town,
Family and friends all around her home,
She was a bird that was born free,
She was a bird that was in glee,

And I wished to catch this bird,
To play,
To sing,
But it was just too happy and free,
More than you,
More than me,
It’s just best to leave it be,

Out where the sun was bright and warm,
There is a tree as old as me,
Heavenly shade from heavy storm,
The bird lives safe in this tree,

I had built strength to climb up and see,
The view the bird had seen everyday,
As I held on tightly I was thrown astray,
I had fell as the bird flew away,
I had fell as the tears had begun to flow,

And I wished to catch this bird,
To play,
To sing,
But it was just too happy and free,
More than you,
More than me,
It’s just best to leave it be.
