17 Year Old Given Life In Prison

If you live in Canada you’ve probably already heard the story of the murder of 14 year old Stefanie Rengal. Well, the girlfriend who pressured her boyfriend to kill Rengal is known as Melissa Todorovic, who was sentenced to life in prison. With no eligibility for parole for 7 years (she’s probably lucky it’s so low). Basically the story sums out like this,  Melissa tells her boyfriend for months to kill Rengal, or Melissa withholds sex from the boyfriend. The boyfriend had never met Rengal, but because of Melissa’s hate towards Rengal, it sparked him to believe she was a rival. Eventually the boyfriend kills Rengal, and has pleaded guilty to the killing. The boyfriend is known only as “D.B.” For now, he will be sentenced in the fall months.

Now my opinion on this is that the parole time for Melissa is way too low. The parole should be set after 15 years due to the circumstances of the crime. The boyfriend is no doubt going to get the same system with more time before he is eligible before parole. Now I want to hear some opinions or comments on what your opinion is on this, the sentence, or even the whole situation. It’s barbaric that a killer (well someone who convinced as much as she did) could be out of jail in 7 years.

You know… she is 17, and she did not commit the actual murder. Therefore, I think the sentence is perfectly fine.

Event though she didn’t do the act, if she is accurately portrayed by the press, she is a master manipulator. Whether male or female, these people can exert an incredible amount of control on others. Unfortunately, prison may only hone her skills.

I totally agree, prison may just make her worse. Hopefully she doesnt get parole for awhile.
